History

Bob and Dottie Franey started Franey Medical Laboratories in 1979 to provide needed homebound phlebotomy services for Cape Cod residents.  Prior to Franey Labs, Cape residents were required to drive to a hospital for simple, routine bloodwork.  A number of these patients were elderly and relied on care givers to drive back and forth to Hyannis for these needed tests.  Bob believed there was a better solution and undertook a mission to provide better access for needed, quality labwork at a reasonable price.   As a chemist, Bob Franey’s passion for quality and science guided his lab’s growth and services.  By early 2000, The Franeys offered a full spectrum of clinical testing services and for years worked with a number of health providers across the state.

In 2001, the Franeys saw another unmet need in our community.  Local clinics and health professionals were grasping for resources to assist with substance abuse.  To a large part, services where limited, including resources to help detect substance abuse and monitor early recovery.  The Franeys turned this need into what is now our passion today.  We have led the industry in detection methods, and have been recognized as one of the first labs in the country to develop needed tests for buprenorphine, fentanyl, synthetic marijuana and bath salts.

We remain just as committed today as when we began this journey.  We continue to develop better resources for our community, in order to be a part of a much needed solution.
